Teams from South Bend schools were assembled and vetted with the competition focusing on teams from Rise Up Academy and Adams High School.
The winning team will compete in The Brace B. Godfrey Jr. African-American History Challenge as part of the National 100 Black Men Conference in Las Vegas in June.
The team from Adams is coached by Latanja Calhoun, and the team from Rise Up is coached by Allison Wells and Dayatra Smith
The purpose of the challenge is to expose students to African American history, which is a part of American history. It is open to all ninth through 12th grade students, all genders and all nationalities.
